Green algae can reduce the need of antibiotics in livestock

The use of green algae in the feed can significantly reduce the need for antibiotics, according to the research group of European scientists, the results of which were published in the latest issue of Journal of Animal Feed Science and Technology.


According to experts, the cell wall of green algae is rich in sulfated polysaccharides, which have a number of physical and chemical properties that make them potentially suitable for use in the pharmaceutical industry for the production of additives for animals and for humans.
Digestive tract extracts of these algae, stimulate the production of cytokines – element of the immune system, which increases the efficiency of the immune response and allows the body to better fight off harmful pathogens.

Meal obtained from processing flour worms is rich in several amino acids and trace elements, whereby they can replace up to 50% of rybarstvi flour in the diets of fish, is celebrated in a series of studies organized by the experts from France. According to experts, increase the productivity, thus, will not succeed, however, with the development of industry of processing insects for feed purposes, this practice can become quite profitable from an economic point of view.


In the course of the study, the scientists replaced 10% of rybarstvi flour flour of worms when feeding trout. As a result key production indicators during the whole period of cultivation remained normal. Similar experience on broilers has enabled researchers to achieve the effect of improving the gain by 2% and reducing overall water consumption by 15%.

The supply of oil seeds in Turkey bring the most revenue at the export of Ukrainian agricultural products in the Caspian-black sea region

According to the results of the export trade of Ukrainian agricultural products with the countries of the Caspian-black sea region in 2015, the largest revenue - $389,5 million - was secured at shipment of the Ukrainian oilseed in Turkey. This figure also amounted to 70% of the total revenue from the export of oilseeds in the major countries of the Caspian-black sea region (Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Iran, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Georgia and Armenia), which last year reached $of 558.5 million
As noted by the experts of IA "APK-inform", the total volume of exports from Ukraine to Turkey by the end of 2015 amounted to $2.8 billion, which is the highest rate among these countries and corresponds to 55% of total revenue from deliveries to the region ($5 billion). In addition to the oilseeds, the most popular Ukrainian agrarian products of the group in Turkey in 2015 was residues and waste from food production (export revenues - us $165 million), fats and oils ($117,7 million) and crops ($57 million).

Ukrainian flax and coriander in demand in the EU – Ministry of agrarian policy

The Deputy Minister informed that the acreage of flax in Ukraine amount to 35 thousand hectares mainly in Zaporizhzhya, Kherson, Odesa, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions. "These figures are extremely low when compared with the possible potential. While the market is holding back the shortage of quality seeds and especially cultural practices. Although the profitability of flax production is potentially much higher than, for example, wheat. Flax seeds are in demand in the EU. The increase in production will lead to increase of export deliveries to our key partners in Turkey, Israel and Egypt. Ukrainian flax is non-GMO, and this significantly enhances its competitive advantage over flax in North America," – said V. Rutytskaya.
She also added that the Ukrainian coriander in demand not only in the EU but also in Asia, and "the level of profitability of this crop is tremendous."
"Given the fact that the ethnic markets in the EU increases every year, demand for this crop will grow. Therefore, the Ukrainian coriander will continue in demand", – considers the Deputy Minister.
